Collective power

Amazing to talk about when we think a collective sport like running and yet it is common policy that I am talking about.

I crossed paths with a little special this race already four years ago, at a time when companies were a little timid to send employees running around the Great Arch to raise money to fight hunger in the world.

This year in 2012 there are nearly 88 companies, 2,842 registrants who attended for an hour and a half to the race in which the mileage allowed to garner pledges from the companies. Result: € 455 415 collected that the association will be able to use around the world. WHAT ARE THE GIFTS?
Every euro collected is donated entirely to Action against Hunger. In 2011, 50% of donations collected at the Challenge are allocated to programs in the field.

IN BANGLADESH

Donations against Hunger Challenge 2011 can launch the first pilot ACF CMAM (Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition *). The intervention area is the district of Cox's Bazar, a relatively vulnerable southeast of the country, which receives a large flow of illegal immigrants fleeing repression and discrimination of the neighboring country, Burma. With more than 13% of global acute malnutrition, the region is beyond the critical threshold that requires intervention. Including the two districts Ukhia (195, 000 inhabitants) and Teknaf (270,000 inhabitants). At the inability of governments (including health) to cope with problems, ACF proposes to implement the model by forming CMAM including the local health staff.
* Treatment of acute malnutrition based on community participation.

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

Donations against Hunger Challenge 2011 can also run a project and Nutrition Improvement of the management of severe acute malnutrition in Health Facilities Prefecture Sangha Mbaéré and prevent severe acute malnutrition.
The use of the gifts of Challenge on this project will ensure the involvement of ACF in the area including the nutritional situation could deteriorate during the lean period in 2012 (the period between the end of food stocks and the next harvest) .

The remaining 50% are equity of the Association. These funds allow for Action against Hunger emergency intervention in conflicts or natural disasters, as was the case in Haiti or in the Horn of Africa. They also allow the association to intervene in forgotten countries (Liberia, Ethiopia ...) where only private funding can save lives.
ABOUT ACTION AGAINST HUNGER
Born of an emergency, the Afghan refugees in Pakistan, in 1979, fleeing the fighting, Action against Hunger (ACF) was founded by a group of French intellectuals in order to eradicate hunger globally, sustainable and efficient in the world. Its mission is to save lives through prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations and conflict. In 2010, ACF-International has worked in over 45 countries, assisting approximately 6.4 million people. By integrating its programs with national and regional systems, Action against Hunger ensures that short-term interventions become long-term solutions. In its activities, Action against Hunger respect the following principles enshrined in the Charter: Independence, Non-discrimination, Professionalism, Neutrality, Free and direct access to victims, Transparency. All members of Action against hunger in the world, adhering to these principles and agree to abide by them. OUR AREAS OF INTERVENTION
Nutrition, and health care practices
Through its nutrition programs, ACF warns, diagnosis and treatment of acute malnutrition among the most vulnerable, young children and pregnant or lactating women. According to the requirements of the particular situation, context and local culture, ACF designs nutrition programs-appropriate health target population.
Food security and livelihoods
The overall objective of interventions in the ACF "food security and livelihoods" is to save lives in crisis situations and to protect and sustain the livelihoods of vulnerable populations during or after shock and in continuous stress situations.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
The nutritional well-being of a community requires large supplies of clean water and adequate knowledge of ways to use and manage. Whole communities can become ill if hygiene is neglected. Action against Hunger intervenes in preventing malnutrition in two situations: in emergencies (epidemics, natural disasters, ...) and as part of broader prevention of malnutrition.
Advocacy and awareness
Along with its interventions in the field, ACF also gives the mission to change the problems whose teams are witnesses directly by sharing its experience and analysis to policy makers and public opinion, in order to obtain concrete changes of contexts and policies of affected populations.
Impossible to talk about race without mentioning ACF and actions around the world:

The idea to run or walk'' useful'' of employees on their working time is a great idea and is exactly the use I intended to kilometers that I travel.

Unfortunately all races do not devote much of enrollment in major actions, but we see more and more often in the presentation of races, the evocation of payments of a portion of the funds to an association or action in particular.
This is an extra motivation to go running and hang a bib, in my case is exactly that.
It is a small drop in the ocean of vital needs felt around the world but at least she deserves to exist!
This year I would run as usual under the colors of AXA Hearts, the association that bring solidarity action group employees:
AXA Heart: serving associations invested in the joint commitment

The commitment to solidarity: the natural extension of the mission of AXA for economic and social development

Through his job, AXA participates with its employees, its shareholders and its networks to economic and social development, and ensure the exercise responsibly. First by helping its customers protect themselves against the risks of life, giving them the means to prepare for the future and react but also participating in the development of solidarity within society through the commitment solidarity with AXA employees.
A commitment to solidarity in the field of exclusion, be it social or disability-related or health.

AXA Heart Association is spearheading this commitment. Founded in 1991, after consultation with employees, it includes employees who want to invest voluntarily in favor of the poor, the sick, the disabled, ...
It responds to their willingness to act by providing actions with associations working in the field of exclusion, be it social or disability-related or health.
Volunteers at the heart of this commitment to solidarity:

Their strong commitment, the quality of their individual and collective actions, are the cornerstone of corporate philanthropy and strengthen AXA day after day the joint commitment and corporate citizenship.

Unlike other years I do not recognize among the hundreds of people engaged in the colors of the association but it is just a detail as is the fervor, she also collective and contagious.
And more generally on the thousands of runners and walkers, I see no familiar face, and yet all are familiar to me because we have a common wish to make a small contribution to projects of Action against Hunger.

Of course I envy those who have come from colleagues and / or friends who have made this event a real business project. They find themselves before the race, is encouraging for it and prolong the pleasure of sharing this timeless place of work after the race. Luckily the climate is mild and even if rain threatens we will be dry throughout the race.

The wind habitual companion of the esplanade is ubiquitous but it would take more to keep us from moving forward. This race has a special flavor: we will run and not only share anecdotes and jokes between riders with one goal and all the same: accumulate the miles not for performance but to allow them into donations made by companies that we represent.

The race has a limited duration at one-thirty and allows everyone, running or walking to walk the loop around the Grande Arche de la Defense. It is a journey worthy of a race for circadian (riders test that lasts 24 hours). This is not the case but the fervor is similar.

The result is spectacular since we are finally in 2191 to 87 companies and we have traveled 30,361 km The amount of funds raised amounted to 455,415 euros.
Company 87
Number of Riders 2191
Km traveled by the company 30361
Donations collected 455 415
TOTAL 87

The next race in the same spirit is a race organized by the Land Bank, whose headquarters are based in Charenton.
The Charentonnaise companies takes place in the Bois de Vincennes, it is the cross enterprise of East Paris.
The benefits of this ecourse will be donated to Handi'Chiens, an association that educates and provides free assistance dogs to people with mobility impairments.
This race is open to all licensed or not.
Both courses are offered, the first of 7200 m individual, the second single of 3400 m, two, running or walking.
To get fit, a warm-up is scheduled at 11:30 am at the Cipale, in the Bois de Vincennes (51 Avenue de Gravelle) for an official start at 12:30. Three hundred runners have already registered, but it is always possible to do on site at € 10. Information on 01.57.44.75.14 or www.lacharentonnaiseentreprises.org.
The 2012 edition:
Foot race: "The Charentonnaise Enterprises" at the Stadium of Cipale in the Bois de Vincennes (94), Thursday, October 11
Contact: AS Credit Foncier: ascff@creditfoncier.fr - 06.78.81.10.73
And to convince you this is definitely the way I had spent on this race on one of my blogs (http://lebleutriathlete.over-blog.com/article-ac-est-tout-moi-75010349.html) :
Thursday, participating in a race where I had never heard of until this year: The Charentonnaise Companies: 7.111 Km on a course that I frequent just east of Paris.
Indeed start and finish at Cipale (velodrome Jacques ANQUETIL): a magical place.
Departing at 12: 30: I go through Paris, arriving half an hour before the race.
The atmosphere is friendly and the bib is quick.
Many runners are a team with their businesses and so I feel a little lonely but I'm used to!
There prevails a mild euphoria because (on) or team riders present have chosen to run good, some entries will be donated to the association Handi-Dogs: http://www.handichiens.org/,'' which Its mission is to educate and provide FREE assistance dogs to people with mobility impairments.''
Besides a few people affected by disability have come with their dogs.
I can not imagine running out of running for anything other than helpful actions and that will allow to speak of a cause that I feel is right.
Officials speak to evoke partners and then defended the cause despite the failure of gun start is given.
As usual I put myself in behind everyone and goes back gradually over the first hundred meters.
The course is very enjoyable and can lay your head in a race schedule that is completely unusual for me.
As usual I enjoyed a paste of fruit 15 minutes before departure and it will be sufficient for just over 7 km
By cons I do not start the race without my trusty bottle and I do not regret it because it is warm enough and the wind dries the mouth quickly as dust.
The sensations are amazing and the course is a wonderful playground
I appreciate every second that passes.
The race consists of two loops, starting and finishing on this magnificent velodrome.
The second loop is comfortable because the course is already recognized as pleasant and always with passage near the water.
In the distance we hear the speaker at the microphone, it smells the finish!
As is often the last few months I really want to sprint and do not let me exceed so I increase my speed and the final stretch is going like a dream.
Hardly the finish line, a volunteer rushes to supply each rider with orange juice and a cereal bar.
These appointments become indispensable!
